Twitter Experiments with New E-Commerce Features

Twitter’s move follows other big tech companies launching new commerce offerings like Facebook with Facebook Pay, Google with Google Pay and Apple with Apple Pay and Apple Card. Displaying tweets that link to e-commerce pages is in testing at Twitter. The social media platform is experimenting with tweets that include “shop” buttons and product information directly in the message.

DCA Insight:

Twitter is looking for ways to support commerce, and this new, organic format is one step in that direction. People already use the platform to discuss products and interact with brands, and the recently announced Super Follow subscription now provides subscriber-only perks (e.g., newsletters and discounts). The next logical step is enabling sales.
